Northwest Coast Indian Native Tlingit Drum

The Raven in Tlingit native culture was known as the trickster, albeit incredibly intelligent and conniving, but always with a good heart.

The Raven is depicted in many mythical Tlingit creation stories, including the popular Raven Steals The Sun story, where Raven turns into a pine needle, is eaten by the Chief's daughter collecting water in a stream, and is born as the Chief's grandson in human form. When Raven is old enough, he steals the sun, hiding in the Chief's box, for the world to enjoy.

This is a 14" drum by Tlingit artist Nick Vonda. All drum orders include a drum beater. Made in Juneau, Alaska.

*Actual drum may have slight variations
